The National Principles draw on the work of the Royal Commission, Australia\u2019s Children\u2019s Commissioners and Guardians, and the 2005 National Framework for Creating Safe Environments for Children. They provide a national approach to embedding a child safe culture <\/i><\/b>across all sectors of Australian society in which children are involved.<\/h5>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\n

National Principles for Child Safe Organisations:<\/h4>\n

Principle #1.<\/strong> Child safety and wellbeing is embedded in organisational leadership, governance and culture.<\/p>\n

Principle #2.<\/strong> Children and young people are informed about their rights, participate in decisions affecting them and are taken seriously.<\/p>\n

Principle #3.<\/strong> Families and communities are informed and involved in promoting child safety and wellbeing.<\/p>\n

Principle #4.<\/strong> Equity is upheld and diverse needs respected in policy and practice.<\/p>\n

Principle #5.<\/strong> People working with children and young people are suitable and supported to reflect child safety and wellbeing values in practice.<\/p>\n

Principle #6.<\/strong> Processes to respond to complaints and concerns are child focused.<\/p>\n

Principle #7.<\/strong> Staff and volunteers are equipped with the knowledge, skills and awareness to keep children and young people safe through ongoing education and training.<\/p>\n

Principle #8.<\/strong> Physical and online environments promote safety and wellbeing while minimising the opportunity for children and young people to be harmed.<\/p>\n

Principle #9.<\/strong> Implementation of the national child safe principles is regularly reviewed and improved.<\/p>\n
